I'm Abigail Jefferson — an artist, storyteller, spiritual care provider, and interfaith-interspiritual minister. My work weaves creative expression and sacred presence to nurture healing, wisdom, and wonder.
Art, storytelling, and ministry are not separate paths for me — they are one continuous prayer. My life's work exists at the meeting point between creativity and spirit, where color, movement, and stillness reveal what words alone cannot.
I hold a B.F.A. from Howard University, an M.Ed. from Lesley University, and an ordination from One Spirit Seminary in New York City. My formation includes Clinical Pastoral Education through the College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy, and Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City.
Over the past three decades, I've worked as a teaching artist, professor, storyteller, yoga instructor, and spiritual care companion — from Harlem schools, libraries, museums, to hospice rooms in New England. My current focus is creative spiritual care and coaching supporting individuals and groups in bringing forth their authentic, sacred voice through creativity and the stories they share.
I'm honored to be a Braxton Institute Golden Repair Fellow (2025) and a recipient of the Georgetown University Reconciliation 2024 grant, the Eric Hoffer Book Award, the Nancy Elizabeth Prophet Award, and the Cirino Fellowship for Artists in Education.
My ministry celebrates the kinship of all life and the infinite ways spirit finds form through story and art.
Each creative expression and story carries mystery, wisdom, joy, ancestry, and the transformative power of change.
Abstract and sacred-inspired works exploring transformation, the sacred feminine, and the dance between light and shadow.
Written and spoken stories on belonging, spiritual awakening, healing, and the wisdom carried in our bones.
"Each creative story and artistic expression begins in silence. I listen until an image or phrase stirs in the heart — then I translate it through movement, visual artistic expression, storytelling, and breathwork. The process itself becomes meditation."
Spiritual care coaching is an invitation to pause and rediscover your inner compass. Rooted in interspiritual practice, my sessions blend presence, creative reflection, and embodied awareness. I accompany individuals navigating grief, transition, vocation, and renewal — as well as creative professionals seeking alignment between spirit and craft.
Every session is shaped by your needs, your beliefs, and your rhythm. Together, we cultivate a deeper sense of connection, purpose, and peace.
I host in-person and online gatherings that welcome heart, body, and imagination into spiritual practice. Themes change with the seasons, but all honor the timeless rhythm of renewal.
Creative contemplative workshops combining art-making with meditation and spiritual reflection.
Exploring personal mythology, healing narratives, and storytelling through the body.
Sessions developed for scholars and educators, including work at Brown University's Black & Indigenous Histories Summer Institute.
Spiritual support and yoga-based grounding sessions for health and social organizations.
I write to create stillness — small offerings of thought and memory gathered from art, chaplaincy, and everyday encounters with the divine.
